When I think of time... How time passes.. Time shared...time that is yet to be... From my perspective hours, minutes and seconds just won't do. It's like having spiritual experiences makes you outgrow the concept of linear time.
It's like that leap from 8bit to 16bit to 24 bit audio. Like that Jump from 480 dots per square inch to 1080p HD all the way to 4K resolutions.
No for me ? A better accurate indicator of how I understand time as a reference is a simple gaze into the sky at any given moment.
You see at any given moment the sky doesn't look exactly the same. Cloud patterns are never the exact same way.
So for me when i want to chronologically log a moment on my experience here as a human being, I simply gaze into the sky.
I visually take snap shot of what the sky looks like at that moment of reflection. Often the view is much more interesting than the face of a analog clock, more intriguing than the blank stare from a digital clock.
The sky is in constant motion at all times.. Every passing second it's different. Just as hearing your favorite song can take you back to where you were in your life when you heard that song for the first time. That's how it is for me when ever I gaze into the sky. Each moment is uniquely different and memorable from the other.
Looking into the sky inspires my imagination. Often I have seen things in the sky that were beyond what I could normally imagine. It's a two way communication and experience when simply gazing into the sky.
To gaze at the stars and feel homesick. To feel comfort in a heavy rain. To watch the world go silent as it respects the thunder and lightning as it appears and expresses itself. To feel the calm of wintery blizzard. To feel the comforting warmth of a sunrise upon my face. To feel the subliminal awareness and presence of things that only come out at night. To be at one with the night as my nocturnal instincts suggest.
To rise to the early dawn of a new day.. To seek rest at the end of a stressful day seeking the comfort that only a mysterious yet peaceful nightfall can bring.
The sky is a living canvas, a living witness to all that has occurred upon this earth. The sky is a giver of life to the physical things upon this earth and also a destroyer of the same.
I imagine the sky as a living book keeper.. That has seen the rise and fall of many a kingdom. There have been many rulers, but none here has ever had more influence than the sky.
