The Past, present and future.
The Past - to serve as a historical reference of what we did correctly, and also what we didn't do correctly. A point of reference of from which we came. A library of lessons that are added to it daily. The past can be consuming and overwhelming, blocking your awareness of the present, inhibiting your view and appreciation for a probable future. The past is indeed best used with discretion.
The Present - serves to validate the essence of "now ". It is the most tangible of the choices between past, present, and future. The present when used wisely is full of acceptance and gratitude. It too can be an inhibitor that can blind you from the lessons that the past has to offer, as well as limit your view of a potential future by getting to self absorbed into "now". As if the present is a normal state of infinity. That isn't true of a physical existence, but true of a spiritual one. The present can be deceptive and ungrateful, an ignorant of its very own origin. To busy being occupied with the essence of itself.
The Future - is the most mysterious of the choices between the past, present, and future. It has the potential to be the most intelligent of them all. For it has the advantage of the lessons of the past, combined with the situational awareness and base of the present to build upon. The best potential can be said of the future for it has not yet come. With the opportunities and lessons learned a better future can be achieved. It is the most hopeful of what is to come, the least remorseful of what has been. It in its discrimination chances are will lump the past and the present in to the very same bucket as far as it is concerned. It can be the most disrespectful of its two predecessors if it is not wise. It can also serve as the ever elusive goal as in the forever changing destination that one may not ever arrive upon. This is where the risk of the pursuit of it makes it very special for it can possess what both dreams and nightmares are made of, depending on what it has learned from the past and present.
You are not just the sum of your past. You are not just what you see yourself as presently. You are also made up of everything that is yet to come.
Hang in there, hold on. We still have much work to do.
